Texas Heavy-Highway Electrical Construction

About

Established in January 2000 as a telecommunications infrastructure contractor, The Levy Company’s primary line of work was initially in support of telecommunications providers expanding DSL coverage in their markets. We used our skill in providing electrical contracting support for the large-scale production of vaults and shelters to meet the demands of emerging technologies.

In the fall of 2001, as the natural next step in our growth strategy, we ventured into the areas we knew best: highway signage, lighting, traffic signal, and traffic management construction and maintenance. The Levy Company successfully prequalified with TxDOT and began bidding and securing work. In September 2017, The Levy Company established an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), enabling employees to reap the rewards of the Company’s continuing growth and success. In 2018, The Levy Company further expanded, adding a commercial electrical division.

What began as a company of four has grown to a company with more than 170 employee-owners within the San Antonio, Austin, and Rio Grande Valley areas, with work throughout south and central Texas. In an industry where changes are frequent, The Levy Company remains a constant quality contractor.

We are proud to be 100% employee-owned.

Meet Our Founders

Harry H. Levy, IV

After spending 23 years in the electrical industry working as an apprentice, journeyman, and master electrician, along with project management and estimating duties at several contractors in Texas, Harry decided to try his hand at his own business. He founded The Levy Company, LP in 2000 and has been working at building the company ever since.

John T. West

John has spent over 30 years in the electrical industry. After acting as a foreman at Hansen Electric Company from 1979-1982, John became a superintendent for Loyd Electric, where he was responsible for direct supervision of company job site personnel on commercial and industrial electrical projects. After the sale of Loyd Electric to Mica Corporation, John became Mica’s superintendent for their new Houston division. John managed and supervised large highway computerized traffic management systems, along with highway lighting and sign projects. In 1997, John left Mica for an opportunity with Traffic Control Devices of Texas as a supervisor. He was responsible for large-scale electronic installations on traffic management projects for the Texas Department of Transportation. In 2000, Harry came to John with the opportunity to create The Levy Company, LP.
